Definitions: What is all this education language?
What is the difference between a Certificate, Accreditation and a Certification?

SECTOR, as an Accredited educational provider, offers certificates of training that can be used toward industry recognized certifications, licenses and Department of Labor approved Apprenticeship programs. Often times accredited educational programs are calculated in various forms of continuing education hours (ex: CEU, CME, CPE).

Accreditation Educational Provider:
Accreditation is the formal declaration by a neutral third party that the certification program is administered in a way that meets the relevant norms or standards of certification program (e.g., ISO/IEC 17024). *SECTOR is accredited through NCCER, Department of Labor, MSSC, IMPACT Institute (Texas Workforce Commission), and SHRM. Additionally, SECTOR is authorized and/or recognized to facilitate training for OSHA, Medic First Aid, NICET, ICC and IVES.

Certificates of Education:
A Certificate program is an educational program on specialized topics generally leading to licensure or professional Certification.
*SECTOR provides Certificates of Completion for all courses SECTOR facilitates.

Industry Recognized Certifications:
Professional Certifications are generally granted through 3rd party organizations that may involve any combination of requirements including years of experience, hours of specified training and/or testing. Typically a certification includes a designation, such as CCM (Contract and Commercial Management Certification), CCE (Certified Computer Examiner), CFE (Certified Fire Executive).
*SECTOR delivers training that assists the individuals in preparing for various industry related educational requirements and certification exams

Licenses:
Formal permission from a governmental or other constituted authority to do something, as to carry on some business or profession.
*SECTOR facilitates to training that assists the individuals in preparing for various industry related license exams.

Apprenticeships:
Apprenticeship is a combination of on-the-job training and related instruction in which workers learn the practical and theoretical aspects of a highly skilled occupation. Apprenticeship programs can be sponsored by individual employers, joint employer and labor groups, and/or employer associations.
*SECTOR administers Apprenticeship programs approved by the Department of Labor.

Continuing Education Hours:
A continuing education unit (CEU) or continuing education credit (CEC) is a measure used in continuing education programs to assist the professional to maintain his or her license in their profession. Continuing education or professional development is required in many fields.
Various associations utilize their own designations for continuing education units, such as CPE (Continuing Professional Educations) and CME (Continuing Medical Education). Professionals should always consult their Association or regulating body prior to embarking on continuing education.
