Doreena Durbin, M.Ed.

Doreena is a native of Chicago, Illinois and has a wealth of eclectic life experiences ranging from musician, business owner, clinical bone densitometry technologist, and coordinator for the 3rd and 4th year medical student program at the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC), College of Medicine. While at UIC, she completed a Bachelor of Arts degree and a Masters degree in Educational Studies: Instructional Leadership. Doreena is an expert in the art of meditation and was often called upon to teach mindfulness and meditation to physicians, medical students and faculty. One of her favorite roles was a Senior Advisor for Medical Students where she was responsible for overseeing more than 1,000 medical students as she followed their academic progress. She offered wisdom, intuitive insight and counseling support. In 2016, Doreena retired from UIC but is honored that many of her former students, who claim she changed their lives, still keep in touch with her even though they are now practicing physicians in hospitals and clinics throughout the country.

A former member of a Council for a Parliament of the World’s Religions (CPWR), in 1991 Doreena served on the Dialogue Committee where she brought various religious organizations to participate in CPWR for the purpose of promoting world peace and understanding amongst religious leaders. She became known as “The Bridge” due to her ability to see the commonality of people from all religious, ethnic and socioeconomic backgrounds.

Doreena is passionate about making a difference in underserved communities by helping people remove barriers that keep them from getting jobs. She truly believes that when individuals are empowered with life skills, education and training, their barriers to secure jobs are removed and they are able to help themselves, their families, and their communities at large. In 2017, she moved to Texas to join SECTOR Consulting Group as Director where she facilitates learning by linking colleges and nonprofit organizations to participate in SECTOR’s dynamic educational programs. Doreena is a life long learner and enjoys delving into wide ranging topics including science, spirituality and quantum physics.
